The Globe Theatre
April 2022
Our Lead Investigator had conducted several investigations at this location a number of years ago so we were interested in attending to see if we could document any activity. Another member's parents were heavily involved with the theatre many years ago and she remembers growing up there. She still had some contacts via her parents of some of the founding members of the theatre so she interviewed them which brought to light some interesting information. You can read the history on this location and it's alleged hauntings on our Haunted NZ Page.
The Investigation
The theatre was quite small so we had to be strategic in our placement of investigators to minimise any noise contamination. We set up our communications base in the lounge behind the stage where the static IR cameras were monitored all evening. Investigators then moved to their designated area in groups of 2 and proceeded to photographically document the area and conducted EVP sessions. We positioned a team upstairs with another downstairs to minimise audio bleed and then swapped them around. At one stage we had 2 teams downstairs, one in the kitchen area behind the monitor station at the rear of the building and one in the small bar at the front of the building. Reviewing of the audio garnered no audio anomalies.
The IR camera's did pick up a repeated light anomaly. This was initially thought to be torch light from one of the team members walking behind the stage. To elimate this possibility, we attempted a recreation with no results. Further discussion brought up the possibillity of it being headlights coming up the hill. This was at first discounted as it would have had to come through the curtains, which were shut, as well as a dense hedge that seperated the property from the property next door. However on closer examination, it was noted the curtains did not quite reach the wall and there was a small gap where light could have possibly shone through. On reviewing the footage it was noticed the placement of the light anomaly was in direct line with the slight gap in the curtain. This led us to conclude it was indeed a car coming up the hill and reflecting on the gloss paint on the door frame.
