Pakepakeha

Pakepakeha

Mythical-like being with fair hair and pale skin.  Small beings that can be spotted sitting upon wood drifting down the rivers singing.  They possess canoes made of reeds which magically change into sailing vessels.  Very closely linked to the Patupaiarehe who were said to have given the Maori the gift of fishing nets and the Ponaturi who are also linked to the water.

Allegedly where the term 'Pakeha' came from which is a term that referred to the early European settlers due to their 'pale skin'.
